British Ambassador to Iran: I Have Made No Promises to Ali Larijani

Rob Macaire, Britain’s ambassador to Iran, wrote on his Twitter page on Tuesday that he had no meeting with Ali Larijani, Speaker of Parliament, and certainly made no promises to anyone regarding assistance in Iran’s upcoming elections, as Britain’s policy, according to him, is not to interfere in Iran’s internal affairs.

This tweet was in response to the publication of an alleged report about statements made by Mohammad Yazdi, secretary of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom, in a session of the Expediency Discernment Council.

According to the report, Mr. Yazdi said that the British ambassador had asked Ali Larijani to help approve the FATF bill and in return would receive London’s support in the 2021 presidential election.
