Urmia Juvenile Court: Aynaz Zare Sentenced to 5 Years Imprisonment

On Monday, November 16, 2020, Aynaz Zare, a detained citizen in the women’s ward of Urmia Prison, was sentenced to five years imprisonment by the First Criminal Court for Juveniles and Adolescents in Urmia. Aynaz Zare was arrested in September 2019 at the age of 17, along with her mother, by security forces.

According to Hrana news agency, citing Kurdpa, on Monday, November 16, 2020, Aynaz Zare, a detained citizen in the women’s ward of Urmia Prison, was sentenced to five years imprisonment by the First Criminal Court for Juveniles and Adolescents in Urmia.

In this report, the charges against this citizen are stated as actions against national security through membership in one of the opposition parties to the system.

Aynaz Zare was 17 years old at the time of her arrest and was deprived of “access to a lawyer” during her detention.

This detainee, along with her mother, Shahnnaz Sadeghifar, after three years in September 2019, following receipt of a safe conduct letter, returned to Iran through the Baneh border and were arrested by security forces.

After their arrest, these two citizens were transferred to the Urmia Department of Intelligence detention center and were interrogated for two months. They were transferred to the women’s ward of Urmia Central Prison in November 2019 after the interrogation process was completed.

In early August of the current year, Shahnnaz Sadeghifar, mother of Aynaz Zare, was sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment by the Second Branch of the Urmia Revolutionary Court on charges of “membership in one of the opposition parties to the system.”
