Arrest of Two Suspects in Animal Cruelty Case in Sardasht

The head of the Department of Environment Protection in Sardasht announced the arrest of two suspects accused of animal cruelty in the city who were organizing dog fighting and cockfighting.

According to Hrana news agency citing IRNA, the head of the Department of Environment Protection in Sardasht reported the arrest of two suspects accused of animal cruelty in the county.

Khaled Bayzidi said in this regard: “These two suspects were the main organizers of dog fighting and combat who, through illegal gatherings, for entertainment purposes and income generation, set dogs against each other and caused public distress and offense.”

He continued: “With the circulation of videos and images on social networks, in cooperation with judicial authorities and cyber police, the identification of individuals was placed on the agenda, and with coordination of the prosecutor’s office, the violators were apprehended.”

The head of the Department of Environment Protection in Sardasht stated: “According to the follow-up by the Department of Environment Protection in Sardasht regarding the organization of dog fighting and animal abuse and torture, as well as disturbing public sentiment, the charges attributed to the suspects in this case have been established and proven, and based on Article 679 of the Islamic Penal Code, they were convicted.”
