Child Laborer Commits Suicide in Saravan County

On Tuesday, the 14th of Bahman, a child laborer in Saravan County took his own life by hanging and died. The share of Iranian adolescents in annual suicides has been reported by the Legal Medicine Organization to be more than 7 percent.
According to a report by the Hrana news agency, citing a campaign by Baloch activists, on Tuesday, the 14th of Bahman 1399, an 11-year-old child laborer in the village of Ziarat, a suburb of Saravan County, took his own life by hanging and died.
In this report, the child’s identity is identified as Muslim Shahkaram Zahi, son of Abdolvahed.
An informed source said regarding this: “Muslim had taken sheep to graze in the pastures and mountains surrounding the village when some of them went missing. Upon Muslim’s return home, he informed his mother about the missing animals and due to fear of his father and physical punishment, he hanged himself in the house storage.”
Based on this report, the child was from a large family suffering from financial poverty and earning their living through livestock herding.
