Biden Campaign Calls Trump’s Attempt to Stop Vote Count an ‘Unprecedented Scandal’

The campaign of Joe Biden, the Democratic nominee, has called Donald Trump’s attempt to stop the vote count an “unprecedented scandal” in American history. Politicians in other countries, including Germany, have reacted to Trump’s statements.
Joe Biden’s election campaign, the Democratic Party’s nominee in the U.S. presidential election, responded on Wednesday morning, November 4, to statements by Donald Trump, the country’s president and the Republican nominee in the election, calling it an “unprecedented scandal” and rejecting any possibility of halting the vote count.
Donald Trump has declared himself the winner of the election and has called for stopping the vote count. Nearly 100 million mail-in ballots have yet to be counted.
Biden’s campaign said that Joe Biden’s legal experts are prepared to mount a legal challenge against Trump’s efforts. Jen O’Malley Dillon, Biden’s campaign manager, stated in a statement: “Throughout our history, no president of the United States has ever attempted to steal the vote of Americans in a nationwide election.” She added that multiple teams of legal experts are ready to fight potential Trump actions “and they will prevail.”
Reactions in Germany
Christian Lindner, leader of the Free Democratic Party of Germany, reacted to Trump’s statements in which he declared himself the election winner, on a television program on Germany’s Channel Two, which was providing special coverage of the American elections. Lindner called Trump’s action “astonishing” and said: “All the rumors we have heard in recent days have, unfortunately, been confirmed.”
Lindner described the current state of America as “critical” for American democracy, which could have unforeseen consequences not only for America but for the rest of the world as well.
According to him, this situation could “prevent America from playing its role in the arena of global political interactions.”
Gregor Gysi, former leader of the Left Party faction in the German Parliament, called Donald Trump’s premature declaration of victory “catastrophic” and “undemocratic.”
He also, in a morning program on German Television Channel Two, strongly condemned Trump’s policies and said that even if after the vote count it becomes clear that Biden has won, Trump “has fueled an atmosphere of tension.”
