Coronavirus in Iran claims over 20,000 lives; travel to Mazandaran banned

With 153 more deaths from COVID-19, the official death toll from the disease in Iran has reached 20,125 people.
According to Sima Sadat Lari, in the past 24 hours, 2,444 new COVID-19 patients were identified in the country, of which 1,132 were hospitalized.
She said: “The total number of COVID-19 patients in the country has reached 350,279.”
Official coronavirus statistics in Iran have always been questioned by domestic experts and some official figures such as city council members and parliamentary representatives.
Ms. Sadat Lari also warned all people to “refrain from any unnecessary travel to Mazandaran Province.”
In addition to Mazandaran, the provinces of Tehran, Qom, Golestan, North Khorasan, Ardabil, Isfahan, Alborz, Razavi Khorasan, Kerman, Semnan, East Azerbaijan, Central, Yazd and Gilan remain in red status.
