Official COVID-19 Statistics in Iran; 219 More Deaths, 3,609 Patients in Critical Condition

The Health Ministry spokesperson announced the death of 219 more people in Iran due to coronavirus infection. Additionally, 3,609 patients are under care due to severe illness.

Sima Lari on Wednesday, the first day of Mordad, announced that 2,586 people were identified with coronavirus in Iran over the past 24 hours.

With the inclusion of these individuals, the official number of coronavirus cases in Iran reached 281,413 people, and the official death toll reached 14,853 people.

The announcement of daily coronavirus statistics in Iran continues amid serious doubts about the accuracy of these figures, with independent sources reporting, based on reports from Iran’s Civil Registration Organization and cemeteries, that the death toll from this virus in the country is several times higher.

Ms. Lari stated that among the newly infected, 1,934 people, approximately two-thirds of them, have been hospitalized.

According to this report, 3,609 COVID-19 patients in Iran are under care in a critical condition of the disease.

According to the Iran Health Ministry spokesperson, the provinces of Mazandaran, Fars, East and West Azerbaijan, Razavi Khorasan, Alborz, Khuzestan, Lorestan, Golestan, Kerman, Zanjan, and Ilam are in a red status.

The provinces of Tehran, Isfahan, Bushehr, Hormozgan, Qazvin, Markazi, North Khorasan, Hamadan, South Khorasan, Semnan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Ardabil, and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad are also in a warning status.

The Mehr News Agency, quoting Kianosh Jahanpour, the head of the Public Relations and Information Center of the Health Ministry, wrote that “the complacency of some people and officials” in dealing with coronavirus is a factor in the re-escalation of this disease in Iran.

IRNA also reported, citing Hossein Qanaati, the head of the think tank of the coronavirus management operational command center in Tehran metropolis, warning that if coronavirus in Iran is “not properly managed, there is a risk of disease explosion and the country will face a very large number of deaths”.
