Donald Trump Fires Senior Cybersecurity Official

Donald Trump, President of the United States, fired Chris Krebs, the senior cybersecurity official at the Department of Homeland Security, on Tuesday.

Donald Trump accused this government official in a tweet of making “very false” statements.

According to Reuters, although American officials have praised the performance of this cybersecurity agency, Krebs angered the Trump administration due to a website titled “Rumor Control” that he launched for the election period.

White House officials called for editing or removing the contents of this website and claimed that false statements about the elections had been published on it. An issue that was met with Krebs’ opposition.

Chris Krebs, director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency of the United States, affiliated with the Department of Homeland Security (CISA), was the official who stated last week in a statement: “The November 3rd election was the most secure election in the history of American elections.”

This senior cybersecurity official of the United States predicted last week that he would be fired from his position.
