44 Taxi and Bus Drivers Have Died from Coronavirus So Far

Mehdi Jamalinejad, Deputy Interior Minister, stated that so far 9 bus drivers and 35 taxi drivers have lost their lives due to coronavirus infection.
According to ISNA, speaking on Sunday evening, July 6, in a television program about the coronavirus situation in Iran, he reported that 150 bus drivers and 450 taxi drivers have been infected with coronavirus.
It appears that the Deputy Interior Minister presented outdated statistics regarding coronavirus infections in this sector.
On April 3 of this year, Morteza Zamani, CEO of the Urban Taxi Association of the country, had stated that 450 taxi drivers have been infected with coronavirus.
Meanwhile, on Monday, July 7, Mahmoud Torfeh, head of Tehran’s Bus Organization, reported that more than 200 bus drivers have been infected with coronavirus.
Statistical ambiguity and contradictions are among the most important issues that media outlets have faced in the field of coronavirus information dissemination in Iran.
