Khamenei’s Order to Develop Persian Gulf Islands for Settlement

Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, says the leader of the Islamic Republic has issued an order for residential construction on Persian Gulf islands and to prepare them for settlement by the people.
He also warned that Iran will not allow the presence of “foreign” warships in this region.
In the statements of this high-ranking IRGC commander, there was no reference to the timing of Ayatollah Khamenei’s order.
Mr. Tangsiri said on Wednesday, the 10th of Ordibehesht (Persian Gulf National Day), in a radio interview: “Foreigners have no place in our region and must leave this area.”
Fars accused.
Following this incident, Donald Trump, the President of the United States, also issued an order to destroy IRGC boats if they interfere with the U.S. Navy.
On the same Wednesday, Hassan Rouhani, the President of Iran, addressed American leaders saying that the Persian Gulf is not “Washington Gulf” or “New York Gulf” and America should not plot against the Iranian people every day.
According to the online news website, the commander of the IRGC Navy on Wednesday, in part of his statements, referred to Ayatollah Khamenei’s order for construction on Persian Gulf islands and preparing them for settlement by the people.
He said that when “the first person of the state” says “we must prepare that place for settlement of the people, it means we are pursuing regional security.”
Mr. Tangsiri also referred to the construction of airports and breakwaters on Persian Gulf islands by the IRGC Navy (Nedsa).
He said: “We have built an international airport on Greater Tunb; an airport has also been built on Lesser Tunb, and the IRGC Navy has also built more than 50 breakwaters for the people.”
The United Arab Emirates has repeatedly claimed ownership of the islands of Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb, and this issue has repeatedly been accompanied by the support of the Arab League. Iranian officials have always rejected this claim.
In 1971, following Britain’s withdrawal from these islands after approximately 70 years of occupation and the formation of the United Arab Emirates, Iran regained control of these islands.
