Seven Years Prison for Distributing Flowers to People in Metro

Seven civil activists, two of whom distributed flowers to people in the metro, were sentenced to a total of 29 years imprisonment. Neda Naji, a civil activist, was also sentenced to five and a half years in prison. The Rokna news agency also reported a death sentence for a Telegram activist.
According to Hrana news agency, seven civil activists named Raha Ahmadi, Armin Sourani, Mohammad Abolhasani, Saman Zandian, Moein Hajizadeh, Vahid Qaderzadeh, and Leila Mirghafari were sentenced by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court to a total of 29 years in prison.
This verdict was announced on Wednesday, December 4, in the presence of the defendants. The court hearing on the charges of these individuals was held on November 10 under the presiding judge Salwati.
According to this verdict, Saman Zandian and Moein Hajizadeh were each sentenced to eight years imprisonment on charges of “unlawful assembly and conspiracy, propaganda against the system, and insulting the leadership.” Raha Ahmadi, Armin Sourani, Vahid Qaderzadeh, and Mohammad Abolhasani were each sentenced to two years imprisonment on charges of “unlawful assembly and conspiracy.” Leila (Khadijeh) Mirghafari was sentenced to five years imprisonment on charges of “unlawful assembly and conspiracy.”
Among these individuals, two defendants named Raha Ahmadi and Leila Mirghafari were previously arrested after a video of them distributing flowers to people in the metro and talking to them was released on social media.
Other defendants were arrested in August in Tehran, Qazvin, and Ardabil.
Five and a Half Years Prison for Neda Naji
Neda Naji, a civil activist who has been in detention since Workers’ Day on May 1, was sentenced to five and a half years in prison.
Jamal Ameli, husband of Neda Naji, announced this news on his Twitter page.
During the gathering on International Workers’ Day in front of the Iranian Parliament, Neda Naji and Atefeh Rangriz were arrested. These two were transferred from Evin Prison to Qarchak Varamin one month after their arrest.
Death Sentence for Telegram Activity
The Rokna news agency reported the issuance of a death sentence for a Telegram activist. According to this report, Meysam M., 39 years old, was the administrator of a Telegram channel.
The charge against this prisoner is stated as “insult to the Prophet” (blasphemy against the Prophet of Islam). “Possession of weapons, possession of tear gas spray, consumption of alcohol, disrespect to sacred figures, possession of homemade alcoholic beverages, and propaganda against the system” are among the charges mentioned in the indictment of this individual.
According to Rokna, Meysam M. was sentenced to death for insulting the Prophet and to imprisonment, flogging, and fines for other charges.
This verdict was confirmed by the Supreme Court.
