3 Million Tehran Residents Exposed to Land Subsidence and Collapse

The secretary of the national committee on natural hazards said: In Iran, we are facing two geological hazard phenomena that have severely affected our urban safety. The texture of the southern areas of Tehran has several characteristics; the fabric of these areas is mostly dilapidated, with narrow streets and deteriorated buildings, these structures are easily vulnerable to land subsidence and collapse.
According to him, around two million people are affected by land subsidence and collapse on the southern edge of Tehran, and in total, in the city of Tehran, approximately three million people are exposed to these hazards only in residential areas.
