Father of Farzad Ansari Far: They Shot My Son in the Back of the Head with a Kalashnikov

Amin Ansari Far, the father of Farzad Ansari Far who died on Saturday, the 25th of Aban following a gunshot wound in the city of Behbahan, told the Campaign for Human Rights in Iran that the bullet struck his son’s head from behind and exited above his eyebrow.

Mr. Ansari Far told the Campaign that his son was killed by a Kalashnikov rifle bullet and he is demanding the identification of his son’s killer.

According to his father, Farzad Ansari Far was 27 years old and worked as a tile worker and was not among the protesters.

There is no precise count of the number of deaths in last week’s protests in Iran. The Islamic Republic authorities are avoiding providing official statistics on the number of deaths and detainees. Amnesty International has reported the number of deaths in these protests as at least 208 people, and the Kaleme website has announced the deaths of at least 366 people in Iran’s recent protests as “documented.”

The Campaign for Human Rights in Iran stated in a declaration that the use of violence by Iranian authorities against protesters in Iran, including the use of live weapons and firearms, has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people, and these government actions constitute a clear and unjustifiable violation of international law and must be stopped immediately.

Amin Ansari Far, the father of Farzad Ansari Far, told the Campaign in an interview: “Farzad was born in Esfand 1370, he was my first son and a healthy child, a hardworking and good person who had no problems with anyone. He was a tile worker and was focused on his own work and had no concern with anyone. He was not even in the protests and they killed my innocent child. Those who were in front were causing destruction and setting fires, they didn’t even hit one of them, but they shot my child who was a spectator or just passing by and was far behind these events and the chaotic area.”

Farzad Ansari Far’s father told the Campaign: “We really don’t have a good situation. We are not doing well and I am seeking a complaint to prove only and only the innocence of my child because my child was at work and closed at one o’clock and was coming home when he was shot from behind. I don’t know who shot him but I want my son’s killer to be identified, whoever it is, and my child’s innocence to be proven.”

Mr. Ansari Far told the Campaign that they were not given a death certificate for his son: “We were not given a death certificate. The bullet struck my son’s head from behind and exited above his eyebrow and in our follow-ups they only said that the bullet was from a Kalash weapon, meaning a Kalashnikov.”

Amin Ansari Far, the father of Farzad Ansari Far, is a disabled veteran of the Iran-Iraq War and carries many scars from that war on his body and soul. He told the Campaign: “I gave my health for my country and now I don’t know what to say. Farzad was shot from behind in the Shiraz vicinity which is also near home and of course it wasn’t just Farzad, I know there were two brothers as well who were also shot there. When we had no news of my son and he didn’t return, I went to the area where there was a clash and they said there was gunfire, Farzad’s friends reported that Farzad had been shot and the next day when I went to the coroner they said they had transferred Farzad’s body along with those two brothers to Ahvaz. They did not harass me for handing over my child’s body. They didn’t take money and didn’t demand a commitment and cooperated very much. They themselves brought the body back from Ahvaz to Behbahan and handed it over to us. They gave us no explanation except that the bullet was from a Kalashnikov rifle.”
