Arrest of 79 Members of a Tourism Group; Condemnation of Detention and Threats Against Labor Activists

According to reports published on social media and Iranian news outlets, over the past few days, 79 members of a tourism group were arrested on charges of “promoting false emerging mysticism,” two Baloch fuel carriers were killed by Revolutionary Guards forces at the Padgeh border zero point, and the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Workers’ Syndicate condemned the detention and threats against labor activists.

According to the ISNA news agency, Aziz Allah Maleki, the police commander of Gilan province, announced the arrest of 79 members of a tourism group in Gilan province and stated that these individuals were promoting “false emerging mysticism” through cyberspace by “fraud, illegal money collection, and organizing unauthorized tourism tours.”
The suppression of religious and ideological minorities, including followers of emerging mystical movements, has a long history in the Islamic Republic. In a section of the U.S. State Department’s annual report released on Wednesday, April 11, violations of the rights of religious minorities in Iran were examined in detail.
- Two Baloch Fuel Carriers Killed by Revolutionary Guards
The “Baloch Activists” campaign reported on Sunday, September 12, the killing of two Baloch fuel carriers named Amir Mohammad Brahui and Habib Allah Brahui, residents of Balochistan, Pakistan, by Revolutionary Guards forces at the Padgeh border zero point, and wrote that the two were killed on June 30 by direct fire from Revolutionary Guards forces.
According to this human rights organization, the families of these two fuel carriers, after 20 days of uncertainty and follow-up, identified their bodies at the Zahedan Forensic Medicine morgue.
The “Baloch Activists” campaign states that during the family’s follow-up inquiries, the Guards intelligence threatened them and asked them to refrain from following up on the situation.
- Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Workers’ Syndicate Condemns Detention and Threats Against Labor Activists
The Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Workers’ Syndicate, through the release of a statement in recent days, while referring to the continued increase and intensification of the suppression atmosphere against social activists, including labor defenders, over the past two months, condemned the file-making, detention, and threats against labor defenders and other social activists, and called for the unconditional release of all detainees.
In this statement, referring to the detention of some activists including Amir Abbas Azarm Vand, an economic and labor journalist, it states that the Ibrahim Raisi government, relying on state and judicial power, is increasing pressure on social activists day by day, and any form of independent organization by security and police bodies is being suppressed.
