We Demand the Immediate and Unconditional Release of Golrokh Irannejad

Political, civil, and social activists have called for the immediate and unconditional release of Golrokh Irannejad.
Golrokh Ebrahimi Irannejad is an Iranian civil activist and human rights defender who was sentenced to 5 years in prison on charges of insulting sacred values and propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran. After serving her sentence, she was released from prison in Ordibehesht 1401. Golrokh was arrested again by security forces during the nationwide uprising at her personal residence in Tehran and transferred to an unknown location. Security forces kicked her in the stomach during her arrest at home, causing severe injuries to her lower back and abdomen.
The Islamic Republic’s judiciary sentenced Golrokh on April 13, 2023, after her arrest in mid-March, to 6 years in prison on charges of “gathering and conspiracy against the system” and to 1 year in prison on charges of “propaganda against the system.” In addition to her prison sentence, she was also punished with a 2-year ban on leaving the country, a 2-year ban on residing in Tehran, a 2-year ban on participation in political parties and groups, and confiscation of her mobile phone.
Over 400 political, civil, and social activists have now issued a statement calling for the immediate and unconditional release of Golrokh Ebrahimi Irannejad. In part of the statement, political activists criticized the arrest, imprisonment, and issuance of harsh sentences for political and social activists, stating: “Ms. Irannejad, after months of uncertainty in detention, has been sentenced to 7 years in prison through a slaughter-like, unjust, and vindictive process. With the release of this statement, they are calling for the unconditional release of Golrokh Irannejad.”
