Teacher Who ‘Whipped’ Student Referred to Court

Iranian education authorities say the case of a teacher who whipped an elementary school student in Karun County, Khuzestan Province, has been referred to the judiciary.

 

In recent days, reports have been published stating that a teacher whipped one of the students at Shahid Ayat Elementary School No. 2 in Karun County on Sunday, November 3rd.

Meanwhile, Kazem Baghlaei, head of the Department of Education in Karun County, said on Wednesday, November 6th, in an interview with IRNA news agency that the teacher’s case has been sent to the judiciary.

He also announced that the teacher’s case has been referred to the primary board for investigating administrative violations and is being reviewed out of turn.

Hundreds of complaints about corporal punishment of students are registered with education departments every year, and some of them are referred to the judiciary.
