Sullivan: Sanctions Will Not Be Lifted Until Iran Fully Returns to JCPOA

The U.S. National Security Advisor says that until the United States is assured of Iran’s complete return to nuclear deal commitments, no sanctions will be lifted. President Joe Biden previously stated that 60 percent uranium enrichment is “not helpful.”
The U.S. National Security Advisor spoke on Sunday, April 18 (Farvardin 29) in an interview with Fox News about indirect negotiations between the United States and Iran and efforts to curb Iran’s nuclear program.
According to Fox News, Jake Sullivan, while not specifying what the United States would receive from Iran in exchange for lifting sanctions, emphasized that trust in Iran’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations is extremely important.
Sullivan added: “What I want to say is that the United States will not lift sanctions until it is certain that Iran will fully return to its commitments under the JCPOA.”
The U.S. National Security Advisor elaborated on the details of American demands: “That Iran halt its nuclear program, that this suspension be longer-term, that the level of enrichment concentration and the rate of enrichment be reduced, and that as long as we are not assured on all these matters, the United States will not make any concessions.”
Previously, President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken responded to news of Iran’s 60 percent uranium enrichment by saying that this Iranian action at a time when negotiations are ongoing would “not be helpful” and would question “Iran’s seriousness” about reaching an agreement.
Jake Sullivan, in an interview with Fox News regarding the withdrawal of U.S. and NATO forces from Afghanistan, said that America will not allow this country to become a land of terror and violence again.
He added that the United States will not withhold humanitarian and logistical assistance to Afghanistan. While U.S. forces will not be stationed far from Afghanistan.
