US Sanctions 5 Individuals and 5 Companies “in Connection with IRGC Missile Program”

The US Treasury Department has sanctioned two networks linked to the government and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for sending equipment to Iran. In a statement from the department, it was noted that these individuals and companies purchased equipment for missile manufacturing and made it available to Iran.

On Wednesday, September 7th (August 28th), the US Treasury Department announced that it has sanctioned 5 individuals and 5 companies linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

In a statement from the US Treasury Department, it was noted that a communications network of the IRGC in cooperation with a company in Hong Kong managed by an individual named Hamed Dehghani has attempted to circumvent sanctions against the Islamic Republic and provide technology and equipment to the IRGC and the Iranian government.

In this statement, it was said that Hamed Dehghani was working through a shell company and intended to purchase tens of millions of dollars in parts and equipment used in missile manufacturing.

The United States blocks the assets of companies that circumvent this country’s sanctions against Iran. The assets of the individuals and companies announced in the US Treasury Department statement are likely to be subject to these government regulations as well.

America has also prohibited transactions and trade by its citizens with sanctioned companies.

Furthermore, the US has asked foreign financial institutions not to cooperate with sanctioned companies and not to conduct financial transactions for these companies, otherwise they will face penalties.

In the US Treasury Department’s statement, another company managed by an individual named Seyyed Hossein Shariaat was also mentioned, which has been involved in the preparation of aluminum-related equipment for Iran’s military forces. The US Treasury Department also stated in its announcement that these companies have been sanctioned for providing technology, parts, and raw materials used in Iran’s nuclear program.

The companies “Asr Sanat Eshrag,” “Ebtekaar Sanat Iliad,” “Green Industry Hong Kong,” “Peshtazan Kavosh Goster Bashra,” and “Shafagh Sanoubar Yazd” are on the new US list of sanctioned companies.

The US Treasury Department has previously imposed sanctions against Iranian individuals and companies. However, this time the sanctions were imposed immediately after reports emerged about a possible meeting between Donald Trump, the US President, and his Iranian counterpart.

The German news agency (dpa) on Tuesday, August 27th, published a report from Biarritz, the site of the G7 leaders’ summit, announcing Trump’s readiness to meet with Rouhani in the coming weeks.

The news agency also referred to this possible meeting as a “historic meeting” and quoted Trump as saying he is also optimistic about Iranian officials’ willingness to hold this meeting.

Trump had emphasized at his press conference that, if conditions permit, he is willing to meet with Rouhani.

However, not much time has passed since these remarks before 5 Iranian companies and 5 individuals in connection with the IRGC’s missile programs were subjected to US sanctions.
