Travel of Senior Iranian Officials to America Limited and Revoked

The President of the United States accused the Islamic Republic of Iran of supporting and sponsoring terrorism. Based on Trump’s new executive order, the ability of Iranian government officials and their first-degree relatives to enter and travel to America is limited or revoked.

Donald Trump’s, the President of the United States, proclamation regarding imposing new restrictions on the travel of senior Iranian government officials and their first-degree relatives to America is being released at a time when a number of Iranian government officials are currently in America.

Reuters news agency on Thursday, the 4th of Mehr (September 26), by publishing a report from the United Nations headquarters in New York, released news of the imposition of new restrictions by the American government on the travel and entry of senior Iranian government officials and their first-degree families to America.

These restrictions apply to all those who enter American soil either as immigrants or non-immigrants. The anticipated restrictions include senior Iranian government officials and their family members.

This is while currently, Hassan Rouhani, Mohammad Javad Zarif, and a number of senior Iranian politicians are in America to participate in the General Assembly of the United Nations.

Reason for Imposing New Restrictions

Donald Trump, in explaining the executive order regarding limiting the ability of Iranian officials to travel to America, stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports and sponsors terrorism, arbitrarily imprisoned American citizens, threatens its neighbors, and also conducts cyber attacks.

Trump stated that apart from the aforementioned matters, imposing such restrictions is consistent with American interests. It is said that the responsibility of determining which people these restrictions apply to falls to the U.S. State Department.

The anticipated restrictions will remain valid as long as the U.S. State Department does not make any changes to this proclamation.

One senior official of the U.S. State Department said: “The Islamic Republic of Iran has been attacking America for years, criticizing America, and acting against the interests of this country. While the leaders of the Iranian regime and their family members are abusing the freedom and prosperity of this country.”
