An 18-Year-Old Baloch Student Detained by Security Forces After Criticizing Qasem Soleimani

Youssef Singlei, an 18-year-old Baloch student from Khosh Abadgo village in the Konarak region, has been detained by security forces.
According to a report by the Baloch Activists Campaign, the Baloch student was arrested at his home on Thursday, December 10th, with no precise information available regarding the charges filed or reason for his detention. However, according to a source close to the student’s family, the reason for his arrest may be related to his criticism of Iran’s political situation and the killing of Qasem Soleimani on social media networks.
Voice of America cannot independently verify the reasons stated for the detention of this Baloch student.
The informed source told the Campaign that on Thursday, six plainclothes officers went to Youssef Singlei’s residence, initially forced the student’s family out of their home, and after searching the house, arrested him in handcuffs and leg irons.
According to this informed person, security forces informed the Singlei family after the arrest that he would be transferred to the Konarak Information Office.
The U.S. State Department also states that the Iranian regime has detained thousands of protesters, civil activists, and representatives of workers and other sectors over the past two years.
The United States has repeatedly and in various instances condemned the violent treatment and widespread suppression of protesters and civil activists, as well as the repeated and continuous violations of the rights of Iranian citizens by the ruling regime in that country.
