Arrest of a Christian Citizen in Parsabad Moghan

A Christian citizen in Parsabad Moghan county has been arrested by the intelligence and security police of the county.

According to Hrana news agency, citing Aran Moghan, a citizen was arrested by the intelligence and security police of Parsabad Moghan county for promoting Christianity.

Based on this report, the charges against this person include promoting and propagating Christianity, as well as disturbing public opinion and misleading public discourse in both physical and virtual spaces.

The report does not provide any information about the identity of the arrested citizen.

It is worth noting that although Christians are officially recognized as a religious minority under law, security agencies nonetheless pursue the issue of Muslims converting to Christianity with particular sensitivity and use coercive measures against activists in this field.

Actions taken against Christian converts in Iran occur despite Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 18 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which state that everyone has the right to freedom of religion and to change religion, and the freedom to manifest that belief individually or collectively, both in public and in private.
