The U.S. State Department issued a statement strongly condemning the severe crackdown on women’s rights activists in Iran and called for an end to the harassment, torture, and imprisonment of women who are merely demanding their basic and fundamental rights.
In a statement presented by Morgan Ortagus, spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, reference was made to the recent arrests of Yasmin Aryani, Monireh Arabshahi, and Mojgan Keshavarz, whose only crime was peaceful protest against mandatory hijab laws.
