Two Baha’i Citizens Detained by Security Forces in Karaj

Two Baha’i citizens residing in Karaj were detained by security forces over the past few days.
An informed source told Voice of America that on Saturday, August 3rd, “Rouhollah Zibayi” and “Abolfazl Ansari,” two Baha’i citizens living in Karaj, were arrested by security personnel at their homes and transferred to an unknown location.
Based on available information, there is currently no information regarding the reason for their detention or the location where these two Baha’i citizens are being held.
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke during the unveiling of an annual report on religious freedom and said that in Iran, the persecution of Baha’is, Christians, and others continues to weigh on consciences.
International human rights organizations and the United States government have repeatedly condemned the harassment and imprisonment of followers of religious minorities in Iran.
