Trump Threatens Iran with More Extensive Sanctions

The President of the United States said that sanctions he has in mind for Iran will go beyond those to be imposed on November 5th (14th of Aban). Trump also increased his country’s sanctions against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
On Thursday, the 3rd of Aban (October 25), Donald Trump announced the signing of legislation at the White House ceremony designed to prevent Hezbollah in Lebanon from accessing the international financial system.
The ceremony was held on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut. In that terrorist attack, 241 American military personnel, 58 French peacekeeping forces, and six civilians were killed.
The President of the United States, while stating that the Islamic Republic has played a fundamental role in creating Hezbollah in Lebanon, said: “Except for Al-Qaeda, no other terrorist group has its hands as stained with American blood as Hezbollah does.”
Washington placed Hezbollah in Lebanon on the list of terrorist groups in 1997.
Trump said in his speech at the White House that one of the reasons for America’s withdrawal from the JCPOA was Iran’s support for “international terrorist groups.”
Cutting Iran’s Economic Lifeline
The President of the United States further stated that all sanctions that were lifted in relation to the JCPOA will be reimposed on November 5th (14th of Aban), and in addition, he has considered further sanctions against Iran.
The most important objectives of these sanctions are preventing Iran’s oil sales and completely severing Tehran’s banking connections with America’s allied countries. Trump emphasized: “We will not allow the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism to obtain the deadliest weapons. Never.”
The Associated Press news agency in a comprehensive report published on Thursday regarding Hezbollah in Lebanon wrote, citing the U.S. State Department, that the Islamic Republic provides $700 million annually in aid to this Lebanese group.
