Nazanin Zaghari Transferred to Prison Clinic Following Seizures

Reports indicate that Nazanin Zaghari, who recently returned to prison from furlough, was transferred to the clinic at Evin Prison following seizures.

British media reported on Wednesday, September 28, citing Zaghari’s family and a political prisoner, that the detainee lost consciousness after two consecutive seizures and was taken to the clinic.

Richard Ratcliffe, Zaghari’s husband, confirmed to The Guardian that his wife had experienced seizures in recent days, stating that one of her cellmates informed the family about her second seizure on Wednesday morning.

According to Richard Ratcliffe, the seizure on Tuesday was accompanied by numbness in her legs, severe headaches, and a significant drop in blood pressure.

In response to Nazanin Zaghari’s serious health condition, Kate Allen, director of the UK section of Amnesty International, stated in a statement that what Iranian authorities are doing to Nazanin Zaghari is deeply inhumane.

The statement read: “Nazanin must have immediate access to specialized medical care. Furthermore, she has been unjustly imprisoned and must be released immediately and unconditionally.”

Nazanin Zaghari, a British-Iranian national who spent 30 months in prison, went on a three-day furlough last week to visit her family and returned to prison three days ago.

Richard Ratcliffe, Zaghari’s husband, had reported that the Iranian government refused to grant an extension of Nazanin Zaghari’s temporary furlough.

The head of Amnesty International’s UK office described developments surrounding Nazanin Zaghari’s furlough as regrettable and distressing.

The Islamic Republic’s Revolutionary Court sentenced Nazanin Zaghari to five years imprisonment on charges of acting against national security and journalism training. Zaghari denies the allegations.
