Two Basij Members Killed in Armed Clashes in Zahedan’s Kurin Region

Reports indicate that two Basij forces from the “Security Plan” in Kurin region of Zahedan have been killed in clashes with armed individuals.
According to IRNA, the public relations office of the 110th Selman Farsi Brigade of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Ground Forces in Sistan and Baluchestan announced on Thursday, July 28th, without specifying the exact time of the clash, that Alireza Shah Bakhsh and Parviz Shah Bakhsh, two Basij members of the Security Plan in Kurin region of Zahedan, were killed in clashes with “malicious individuals.”
The public relations office of the 110th Selman Farsi Brigade of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Ground Forces in Sistan and Baluchestan did not provide further details about the clash or the identity of the armed individuals.
The funeral ceremony for these two Basij members is scheduled to be held on Friday in the village of Shuru. Shuru village is part of Kurin district of Zahedan and is located 90 kilometers from the city center.
Previously, “two native Basij members” and two border guards were also killed during clashes with “outlaws” at the Mirjaveh border in the month of Farvardin of the current year.
Sistan and Baluchestan Province in southeastern Iran has been the site of confrontations in recent years between the Islamic Republic’s military and security forces and armed groups, which Iranian officials refer to as “terrorists” and “outlaws.”
Last year, the commander of the law enforcement force in Sistan and Baluchestan Province announced the discovery of “weapons depots” of the Jaish al-Adl group in the south of the province. The location of this weapons storage was reported to be outside the city of Saravan.
The Jaish al-Adl group, which has repeatedly clashed with Iran’s border guards in this province, has taken some of them hostage or killed them, and describes itself as a defender of “Sunnis” in Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
Meanwhile, Iranian officials describe this group as “terrorist” and affiliated with foreign countries.
