Identity of Toronto Shooter Announced

The identity of the gunman behind the bloody shooting in Toronto on Sunday, which left two people dead, has been announced as Faisal Hussain, 29 years old.

According to the suspect’s family, Faisal Hussain suffered from mental illness.

 

During the shooting at 10 p.m. on Sunday on Danforth Street in the Greek Town area of Toronto, two girls aged 10 and 18 were killed and at least 13 others were injured. Police officials say the body of Faisal Hussain was found shortly after the shooting.

Toronto police say investigations into the motives of the shooter are ongoing.

Mark Sanders, Toronto’s police chief, said on Monday, August 1: We do not know why this incident occurred and cannot speculate about the suspect’s motives. It is too early to comment on this matter.

Meanwhile, the family of Faisal Hussain issued a statement expressing deep sympathy with the families of the victims, stating that he suffered from multiple mental illnesses throughout his life and was depressed.

Nathaniel Smith, a Toronto official, also said that the 18-year-old girl who was killed in the Sunday evening shooting was named Reese Fallon and had just graduated and was about to pursue studies in nursing.

Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit also said that on Sunday evening, the suspect exchanged gunfire with police and fled the scene, but his body was found shortly after the confrontation.

According to the report, the suspect was shot, but the cause of his death has not yet been announced.

Monica Hodson, spokesperson for Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit, said in this regard that an autopsy of the shooter’s body will be conducted on Tuesday.

France’s news agency reported that this year, Toronto, Canada’s largest city, has experienced more than 200 shooting incidents, several of which have been fatal.

Last week, Toronto police implemented a “plan to reduce armed violence.”

Three months ago, a vehicle struck people in Toronto, in which 10 people, most of them women, lost their lives.
