Two prominent lawyers from the judiciary who were arrested while protesting against supervisory approval and the signing of the Caspian Sea Convention in front of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament) have been transferred from Evin Prison to Fashafuyeh Prison.
According to some reports, “Qasem Shale Saadi” and “Arash Keikhosravi” were transferred to Evin Prison on Saturday following their arrest, and on Sunday after charges were read in Branch Five of Evin Prosecutor’s Office, they were transferred to Tehran’s Greater Prison.
In a video released on Tuesday, the 30th of Mordad on Twitter, Mr. Shale Saadi along with Arash Keikhosravi is shown being transferred to Evin Prosecutor’s Office in prison clothes and handcuffs. This is while, according to the law on political crimes in Iran, those accused of political crimes are exempt from wearing prison clothes and should be kept separately from ordinary criminals.
Mohammad Hossein Aghassi, who is the attorney for Qasem Shale Saadi, wrote on his Twitter account on Tuesday that a temporary detention order has been issued against his client on charges of gathering and conspiracy with intent to commit a crime against the country’s security.
The defense attorney for Mr. Shale Saadi has stated that he does not find this charge consistent with his client’s actions and the legal definition of this crime, and will appeal the detention order within the legal deadline.
Mr. Shale Saadi, who was arrested on Saturday, the 27th of Mordad in Baharestan Square in front of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, had stated the night before his arrest by releasing a video that he would protest in front of Parliament on Saturday.
In this video, Qasem Shale Saadi said that the country is in a state of collapse and dissolution, and following Mohammad Mossadegh’s example, he would hold a sit-in in front of the Islamic Consultative Assembly in protest against supervisory approval.
Beyond Mr. Shale Saadi, two lawyers named Arash Keikhosravi and Masoud Javadiyeh, along with Mohammad Nourizad, a political activist, have been arrested.
