Continued Detention of Ali Nouri, Civil Activist

Ali Nouri, a civil activist and former political prisoner who was previously detained for civil activities and was conditionally released after serving one-third of his sentence, was arrested on 9 Dey of the current year by security forces at Vali-Asr Square in Tehran while serving his mandatory military service and transferred to Evin Prison. During his arrest, reports emerged of him experiencing cardiac complications. Despite 28 days having passed since this citizen’s arrest, he remains imprisoned.
According to Hrana news agency, the news organ of the human rights activists network in Iran, Ali Nouri, a civil engineer and former political prisoner who was on military service, has been in detention since 9 Dey during recent protests.
An informed source previously told Hrana regarding this prisoner’s health condition: “On 23 Dey, Ali experienced severe chest pain, so he was transferred to the prison medical clinic by inmates. A condition that was diagnosed as cardiac complications.”
It is worth noting that Ali Nouri was born in 1372 and was first arrested on Wednesday, 16 Mehr 1393, following his participation in a rally supporting Kobani in front of the United Nations. After his arrest, he was transferred to Section 2-A of the Sepah, and after months of interrogation and solitary confinement, he was moved to the general ward 8 of Evin Prison, where financial prisoners are held.
Shortly after his release on a bond of fifty million tomans, he was sentenced to seven years imprisonment in the primary court.
Based on a ruling issued in Branch 36 of Tehran Province’s Court of Appeals by judges Ghomi-zadeh and Hozouvan for four civil activists; Atena (Fateme) Daeimi, Omid Alishenas, Rasto Rostami, and Ali Nouri, their primary court sentences were reduced from 14, 10, 7, and 7 years imprisonment to 7, 7, 2, and 2 years imprisonment respectively.
Mr. Nouri’s charges in court were stated as assembly and conspiracy and anti-system propaganda activities, and on 25 Esfand of last year, after serving one-third of his two-year sentence, he was conditionally released from the prison.
