Leila Hosseinzadeh, Tehran University Student Arrested

Leila Hosseinzadeh, a master’s student in anthropology at Tehran University, has been arrested.

According to a report from the Student Guild Council channel, Hosseinzadeh was arrested on Sunday, the sixth of Mordad, at her residence and transferred to Evin Prison.

 

It has been reported that this student activist was summoned to the Evin prosecutor’s office in recent days through a phone call and was scheduled to appear at the prosecutor’s office in the coming days, but security forces arrested her.

Hosseinzadeh was previously arrested during the December 2017 protests and faced charges including “propaganda against the system,” “actions against national security,” and “disruption of public order and tranquility through participation in illegal gatherings.”

She was sentenced to 6 years in prison in the primary court, but this sentence was reduced to 30 months imprisonment in the appeals court.
