Iran Sentences Political Prisoner to Five Additional Years for Protest and Strike

Pirouz Mansouri, a political prisoner who is spending his eleventh year of imprisonment in Gohardasht Prison in Karaj, has been sentenced to 5 additional years of punitive imprisonment in a new case.
Hrana website, which publishes news related to human rights in Iran, reported on Tuesday, April 14, that Mr. Mansouri was sentenced in a new case on charges of “assembly and conspiracy against the system” for activities he conducted inside the prison.
According to the report, the charges in this case included actions such as hunger strikes and inciting prisoners, declaring support for Mohammad Ali Taheri, and issuing a statement condemning the execution of Sunni prisoners, which resulted in the issuance of a new 5-year punitive imprisonment sentence for Mr. Mansouri.
With the addition of the 5-year sentence, Pirouz Mansouri will have to spend 10 more years in prison.
