Mohammadi Golpayegani: Crusader Wars Have Not Ended

The Chief of Staff of the Leader of the Islamic Republic says that opposition to the Islamic Republic is “rebellion,” the crusader wars have not yet “ended,” and Iran’s support for Hezbollah Lebanon has led to “continuous victories” for this group.
According to Thursday, August 26 reporting by IRIB News Agency, Mohammad Mohammadi Golpayegani made these remarks Wednesday evening at the “Shining Diamonds” congress in Tehran’s artistic sphere, and then, with an allusion to Saudi Arabia, called them “traitors and usurpers of the Two Holy Mosques” and added that Saudi Arabia, through its monarchical system, has “bad conditions.”
He also added that unlike some non-democratic systems in the region that are based on coups, the Islamic Republic “emerges from the people’s votes and 99 percent of people have voted positively for this system.”
For this reason, Mr. Golpayegani considered any opposition to the “popular and legitimate system” of the Islamic Republic and “standing” against it as “rebellion.”
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s Chief of Staff, in continuation, considered “keeping commitments” as “one of the most prominent characteristics” of the Islamic Republic and said that Iran’s support for the Palestinian Intifada and Hezbollah Lebanon is evidence of this characteristic.
According to Jaam-e Jam Online’s report from this event, he added that “this is the same Hezbollah that in the 33-day war, Israel wanted to destroy…who brought Hezbollah to this point to have continuous victories? The answer is clear.”
Islamic Republic officials have repeatedly and publicly announced that they support Hezbollah Lebanon. Some time ago, Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary-General of this party, clearly stated that all of Hezbollah’s expenses are provided by Iran.
Mr. Nasrallah had said in a public speech that “our budget is transparent. Its revenues, its expenses, everything it eats and drinks, its missiles and rockets all come from Iran… As long as Iran has money, we have money.”
His unprecedented remarks about receiving all expenses from Iran were made following the freezing of bank accounts related to Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Mohammadi Golpayegani further, in reference to what he called “the West’s enmity” toward Iran, said that “the crusader war has not ended.”
The Crusader Wars were a series of religious wars between Muslims and Christians over the control of sacred lands that, due to their extent and long duration, caused much bloodshed on earth.
Khamenei’s Chief of Staff, comparing the West’s opposition to Iran and Christians’ enmity toward Muslims, added: “America and the criminal rulers are not afraid of our nuclear issue and know that we are not seeking to build an atomic bomb…they have a problem with the foundation of the Islamic Republic system.”
Golpayegani also attributed this “enmity” to Iran being a “model” for other countries and claimed that they “cannot see that the Iranian nation lives in complete security and peace alongside turbulent countries in the region.”
The Leader of the Islamic Republic has repeatedly said that resolving Iran’s nuclear issue with the West will not lead to the end of their “enmity” with the Islamic Republic and that they will continue to put pressure on Tehran by raising other issues such as human rights.
