Two Ahvaz Police Officers Killed by Armed ‘Masked’ Individuals

In the early morning hours of May 15 (25 Ordibehesht), two law enforcement officers from Khuzestan were shot and killed by unidentified armed individuals. Armed ‘masked’ men attacked a police station in Ahvaz and opened fire on officers.

Ali Ghasempour, Deputy Commander of Law Enforcement in Khuzestan Province, announced the killing of two police officers from the Ahvaz law enforcement command. Two additional police officers were also wounded during the attack.

The deputy commander of law enforcement in Khuzestan, referring to the deaths of these two officers following an “armed attack by unidentified individuals,” stated that “efforts to identify and apprehend the attackers” began immediately after the assault.

The Young Journalists Club news agency, close to Iran’s security forces, reported the exact time of the attack as 1:05 a.m. on Monday (May 15).

The news agency provided details of the incident: “A number of armed masked criminals attacked the guard at the entrance of Police Station 22 on Mujahid Street in Ahvaz, wounding him, entered the station and began shooting.”

The deputy commander of law enforcement in Khuzestan stated: “In the armed attack on this law enforcement center, the armed individuals fled the scene after opening fire on officers.”
