Bahrain accuses the Islamic Republic of Iran of creating unrest in the country; an accusation that the Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently denied.
Since 2011, Bahrain has witnessed political protests by the country’s Shiite population. The majority of the country’s people are Shiite, while the government is controlled by a Sunni family. This has fueled discontent among citizens of the country.
Bahraini Shiite political protests have thus far been suppressed with the help of Sunni countries, including Saudi Arabia.
