Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi, the prosecutor of Tehran, has announced a program to combat modeling-related salons and said that two cases have been opened in this regard at the Cybercrimes Prosecution Office.
According to Iranian media reports, Mr. Dolatabadi stated that several individuals have been arrested in connection with these cases and added: “Over the past two years, in the field of combating salons and modeling-related studios, approximately 50 salons, 50 studios, and 50 photography studios have come under the supervision of intelligence and judicial branches, resulting in good arrests and the closure of many pages.”
According to Mr. Dolatabadi, today in cyberspace we are witnessing a “significant increase or even the expansion and promotion of obscene and indecent networks, which pose a serious threat to families.”
The Tehran prosecutor emphasized that there is “information oversight on Instagram and Facebook.”
Elham Arab, one of the Iranian models who appeared last year on the Honeymoon program related to Ramadan on Iran’s official television, was one of the individuals who attended a meeting today with Mr. Dolatabadi and spoke about her activities as a model: “The average income of a model is approximately 10 million tomans. Models become famous and well-known on Instagram through makeup artists and photographers.”
Iranian television broadcast a portion of Ms. Arab’s remarks.
A number of studios and salons in Iran use social networks to advertise the services they provide to their customers.
