Doctor in Sattar Beheshti Case ‘Sentenced to Six Months in Prison’

The Kaleme website has reported that Reza Heidarpour, the physician who examined Sattar Beheshti upon his entry into prison, has been sentenced to six months in prison.
Mr. Heidarpour was arrested approximately three years ago.
This prison physician at Evin Prison had reported signs of beating and injuries on Sattar Beheshti’s body when he entered the prison. Following this, Dr. Heidarpour was no longer permitted to examine and treat political prisoners and was transferred to another ward.
Sattar Beheshti was a worker and blogger who was arrested by Iranian police in 2012 and died after being transferred to Evin Prison.
Two years ago, in connection with this case, one police officer was tried on charges of quasi-intentional murder and sentenced to three years in prison. While the physician involved in the case has now been sentenced to imprisonment, the details of his case and the charges against him have not been made public.
According to Kaleme, Branch 28 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, headed by Judge Moghisseh, in addition to sentencing Reza Heidarpour, the health physician of Evin Prison, has also issued a six-month prison sentence for Bahram Moradi, a physiotherapist at Evin Prison.
Kaleme further reported that the same branch of the Revolutionary Court, in a separate ruling, has sentenced journalist Alireza Darvish to six months in prison.
The website also states that Giti Zolfaghari has been sentenced to three years, Mehdi Maleki, a supporter of the Pan-Iranist party, to six months, and Mohammad Ebrahimi to one year in prison.
