Rouhani: They Send False Reports to the Leader; Qalibaf: You Made False Promises to the People

Hassan Rouhani, Iran’s president and a candidate in the upcoming presidential election, accused his opponents on Monday, Ordibehesht 25, of sending “false reports” about his government to the leader of the Islamic Republic during a speech in Tabriz.

On the same day, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, one of Rouhani’s electoral rivals, accused Rouhani of making “false promises” about solving problems within 100 days during a speech in Rasht.

According to IRIB news agency, on the same day, Ebrahim Raisi, another presidential candidate, delivered a speech at the prayer grounds in Yasuj, the center of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province.

Four days remain until Iran’s presidential election, and candidates can use the remaining time until Thursday for campaigning, in addition to some recorded and live programs.

According to ILNA, the Iran Labor News Agency, Rouhani said on Monday at the Shahid Poorsharifi sports complex in Tabriz: “Some people are so shameless that they say our plan is from eight years ago. My brother! Money pumping doesn’t solve problems correctly. We want there to be no lies in this country, but they still lie.”

He added: “They say the government accepted the 2030 document while the government says it is implementing Iranian and Islamic culture. They have become so impudent that they send false reports to the office of the leader.”

UNESCO’s 2030 education document emphasizes issues such as environmental education, gender equality and equal social opportunities for women and men, human rights, eliminating discrimination against minorities, and a culture of peace and non-violence. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared on Sunday that implementing this document is unauthorized and stated that the Islamic Republic will not submit to documents like UNESCO’s 2030 document.

Despite the Supreme Leader’s opposition, Rouhani, a few days later, emphasized compliance with this document “within the framework of Iran’s laws and culture.”

On Monday, in another part of his speech in Tabriz, Rouhani said: “Why do they accuse Rouhani and his government so much? Why does state media act against this government?”

Rouhani also said: “My request is that each person goes to the polls on Friday with 11 others” and added: “Some things couldn’t be done with 51 percent of votes, but higher votes will be more effective.”

On Monday, it was reported that Mehdi Karroubi, one of the leaders of the 2009 protests, announced that he will participate in the upcoming presidential election and will vote for Hassan Rouhani.

One day earlier, Mohammad Khatami, Iran’s former president, also announced his support for Hassan Rouhani in the presidential election on Ordibehesht 29 of the current year.

Qalibaf: You Made False Promises

According to Tasnim news agency, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, a candidate for the twelfth round of presidential elections, said on Monday to the Rouhani government: “Four years was not a short time for solving problems that you refer to the previous government. You made false promises to the people about solving problems in 100 days.”

Rouhani had previously responded to similar criticism about his promise to solve problems in 100 days by saying: “I said if I succeed in the election, I will announce the first 100 days of measures, but some destructive people said that I stated I would solve problems in 100 days. The person who solved problems overnight was someone else, not us.”

Qalibaf accused the Rouhani government of “weakness and inefficiency” and said: “Unfortunately, when they don’t have an appropriate answer, they say the previous government, which shows the weakness of the current government to say this.”

He continued: “Our answer to them is that you were the previous government. When the government’s record is not defensible, their excuse is that they say they won’t let us work, who is preventing you from working? The one who prevents you from working is the same weakness of management, aristocratic disposition, and mercenary nature of your entire organization.”

This principlist candidate added: “When they don’t have an acceptable record, they tell the people if so-and-so happens, such-and-such will occur, and if this government changes, the new government will surely draw walls on the sidewalks, if you say this in front of a roasted chicken, it would laugh.”

Sadegh Larijani: Some Candidates Acted as if They Were Opposed to the System

On Monday, Sadegh Larijani, head of Iran’s judiciary, said: “Unfortunately, some candidates acted in such a way that they seem to be opposed to the system and took steps in the direction of blackening and questioning the legal institutions of the system, which is certainly contrary to national interests.”

According to Mizan news agency, speaking in a meeting of senior judicial officials, he called on people to vote for those who follow “the discourse of the revolution” “not those who might even accompany the promoters of vulgarity to collect a few votes.”
