Syrian Opponents: We Received New Grad Missiles from Foreign Governments

Reuters news agency reported on Wednesday, citing one of the commanders of forces opposing Bashar Assad, that foreign governments have delivered Grad ground-to-ground missiles to Syrian fighters in response to recent airstrikes backed by Russia on the city of Aleppo.

According to the news agency’s report, citing Colonel Farès al-Bayoush, one of the commanders of forces opposing Damascus, Grad missiles with ranges of 20 and 40 kilometers have been delivered to them in large quantities. He added that these missiles will be used on the front lines of fighting in Aleppo.

According to Colonel al-Bayoush, although the opposing forces had previously been armed with Grad missiles, the new shipment consists of a different type of these missiles that had not previously reached these forces.

The forces opposing Damascus, operating under the name of the Free Syrian Army and fighting against Syrian government forces, have received military weapons from governments opposed to Assad. These shipments reach the opposition through a coordination office in Turkey and with support from the United States.
