Iran’s Leader Calls Documents on Khomeini’s Contact with America ‘Forged’

Iran’s leader responded to a document recently published by the BBC, stating that America had “forged” these documents.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, at a ceremony marking the twenty-seventh anniversary of the death of the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, interpreted the publication of these documents as a sign of “enmity by the American and British governments.”

He stated: “On the occasion of the Imam’s anniversary, the propaganda apparatus of the English government publishes a so-called document against the Imam, against the pure and immaculate Imam. Where did they get the document from? From American records. America, which shoots down civilian aircraft, has no qualms about forging documents? This is how the English show their enmity.”

Kambiz Fatahi, a BBC Persian correspondent, recently obtained one of the CIA organization’s documents showing that Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran who calls America the “Great Satan,” had direct contact with American presidents at least twice and promised that American interests would not be endangered.

Based on CIA documents, Ayatollah Khomeini made contact once in 1963 with John F. Kennedy and in the days before the revolution’s victory with Jimmy Carter, the then-presidents of the United States.

Excerpts from Iran’s Leader’s Statement Today:

  • “If we fall short, America will not abandon its destructive role. Our hardworking brothers and activists in negotiations with the P5+1 achieved results, the Islamic Republic fulfilled its commitments, but the disloyal, unfaithful and crooked America continues to renege; it has reneged so far. In any other field where you debate and argue with America, if you fall short, they will not fall short.”
  • “The issue of information engineering and these new tools that everyone uses to dominate a country’s culture; I don’t mean by saying this that we should remove these tools from our lives; no. These can be beneficial, but we must remove the enemy’s dominance over these tools. We cannot hand over radio and television to the enemy just because we want to have them; the internet is the same.”
  • “After the Imam’s passing, wherever we acted revolutionarily, we moved forward; wherever we neglected revolutionary and jihadi action, we fell behind. This is a fact. I myself was responsible in these years; if there is any fault in that, this humble one is aware of it.”
  • “It is a mistake to think that revolutionary means extremist. These dichotomies that are souvenirs of foreigners and the talk of Iran’s enemies should not find a place in our political culture. They call the revolutionary ‘hardliner,’ the non-revolutionary ‘moderate’; this is a foreign dichotomy.”

Iran’s Leader Praises the Government

Iran’s leader said today, on the fourteenth of Khordad, “Anyone who acts in the direction of Islam, if they trust America, they have made a great mistake; the major enmities are from America and wicked Britain.”

According to Ayatollah Khamenei, America, after the nuclear negotiations, is seeking to “swallow Iran’s economy through the digestive system of the international economy.” He emphasized his announced policies that economic independence can be achieved through resistance economics.

In an unprecedented manner, he praised the government’s economic policies in the field of resistance economics, saying “The government has begun taking action and has accomplished good things. If it continues with the same approach, the people will certainly see its results.”

Iran’s leader once again implicitly supported the government of Mr. Rouhani in his speech, and in response to slogans chanted during the ceremony against the government, he advised protesters to “reconsider” and “not undermine the unity of government and nation.”

Ayatollah Khamenei addressed those chanting slogans, saying: It is possible that you like one government and dislike another, which is no problem; electoral competitions have their place, disagreements have their place, even criticism has its place! But the government and nation must all stand together.

Earlier, IRNA reported that during Hassan Khomeini’s speech, some people attempted to disrupt the ceremony by shaking scarves and making noise.

Last night, Hassan Rouhani, Iran’s president, also emphasized his unity with the leader in his speech, saying there is no distance between him and Ayatollah Khamenei.
