Christian citizen "Laleh Saati" released on parole after 15 months in prison

Christian citizen Laleh Saati was conditionally released from Evin Prison after serving 15 months in prison.

Laleh Saati was arrested on 14 February 1923 by security forces who raided her father's home in Tehran and transferred to the Ministry of Intelligence's Detention Center 209. After undergoing lengthy interrogation in Ward 209, she was transferred to the women's ward of Evin Prison.

On March 16 of the same year, Ms. Saati was sentenced to two years in prison and a two-year ban on leaving the country by Judge Iman Afshari, head of Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, on charges of "acting against national security through contact with Christian Zionist organizations."

The charges against him were based on his religious activities and his presence in house churches after returning to Iran, as well as the existence of a baptism video and images of his religious activities in Malaysia. It should be noted that he was denied the right to choose a lawyer throughout the interrogation and detention process and appeared in court with a hired lawyer.

In addition to being denied the right to choose a lawyer of his choice, he was also denied a specialized medical examination, which increased concerns about his physical and mental health.

Now, according to published reports, Laleh Saati was released from Evin Prison on Saturday, June 10, 1404, after serving 15 months in prison, on parole and with a commitment not to communicate with any media or individuals outside the country.

According to the Human Rights in Iran website, Laleh Saati has been informed of the execution of her 2-year ban on leaving the country after her conditional release.
