Air pollution also closed universities in Tehran province.

After schools in Tehran province were closed today due to severe air pollution, authorities announced that schools in Tehran, Tabriz, Bushehr, and a number of other cities would be closed tomorrow due to air pollution, and the closure of Tehran universities has been added to this list.

 

Mohammad Taghizadeh, Deputy Governor of Tehran, told ISNA news agency: "Following the continuation of air pollution, the Tehran Air Pollution Emergency Committee decided that, considering the accumulation of pollutants and the concentration of suspended particles in Tehran's air, schools in the province will be closed in two shifts, morning and afternoon, except for the two counties of Firouzkouh and Damavand, tomorrow, Monday. Of course, schools in the city of Roudhen in Damavand County will also be closed."

He added that "in this regard, the Tehran Air Pollution Emergency Committee has closed all educational centers and universities in Tehran province tomorrow, Monday."

It is also reported that schools in Tabriz and several other cities in East Azerbaijan Province will be closed tomorrow due to air pollution.

Majid Ejafi, head of the Information and Public Relations Department of Education in Bushehr Province, has also announced that all schools in Bushehr Province, except for the city of Dir and the Bordkhon and Kharg areas, will be closed tomorrow morning and afternoon.

All kindergartens, preschools, and schools in the city of Qom, as well as the Salafchegan and Markazi districts, were closed on Sunday due to air pollution, and officials say the city's air is "in an unhealthy state for the general public."
