Tehran Schools Closed Due to Air Pollution

The Governor of Tehran says primary schools, kindergartens, preschools, and special education centers in the capital and the cities of Varamin, Qarchak, and Pishva are closed on Wednesday, November 13 in both morning and afternoon sessions due to air pollution.
Anushiravan Mohseni Bandpai stated that the air quality index of Tehran city has not yet exceeded the unhealthy level for sensitive groups and stands at 133.
According to him, the numerical index of 10 districts in Tehran has exceeded 150 and this trend is increasing, with Tehran’s air instability continuing until Thursday.
IRNA news agency reports that Abbas Shahsoni, head of the Air Health Group at the Environmental Health and Occupational Center of the Ministry of Health, said the Tehran Emergency Medical Center had 2,863 missions regarding cardiac and pulmonary patients in the past 24 hours.
Statistics from the Air Quality Control Company show that since November of last year to date, Tehran has had 156 days with air unhealthy for sensitive groups and 8 days unhealthy for the general public, with the air pollution index being extremely dangerous in some cases.
