Zahra Saidiyanjou Arrested on Eve of Her Brother’s First Anniversary

Zahra Saidiyanjou, sister of Milad, one of the victims of the 1401 protests, was arrested on the eve of the first anniversary of her brother’s death.

Milad Saidiyanjou was 26 years old and from Izeh. He participated in the nationwide protests on November 16, 2022 (25 Aban 1401) and was shot and killed by regime forces. His sister and his other brother, named Omid, were arrested while holding a birthday ceremony at Milad’s grave. They were later released after some time.

In June of this year, Zahra Saidiyanjou was arrested in Tehran and transferred to Evin Prison. She was released on bail in August. Now, after several months of freedom, Zahra has been arrested again and transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to an informed source, on the night of Monday, November 13, 2023 (22 Aban), on the eve of the first anniversary of her brother’s death, she was arrested by security forces at her residence in Izeh and transferred to an undisclosed location. To date, no information about the charges against her is available.

One year after the start of nationwide protests, the Islamic Republic government continues to harass, intimidate, and threaten the families of the deceased and prevents them from holding memorial ceremonies. However, the justice-seeking people of Iran continue to stand for justice for their loved ones and for the overthrow of the Islamic Republic system and refuse to submit to the oppression of the regime.
