The death toll from Wednesday's attacks in Iran was announced at least 19 dead and 2,817 injured.

On Wednesday, March 15, a spokesman for Iran's Emergency Organization announced that 2,817 people were injured and 19 people died in the Chaharshanbeh Suri incidents.

According to Mojtaba Khalidi, the highest number of deaths occurred in the two provinces of East Azerbaijan and Qom.

He also said that 34 of the injured have been admitted to intensive care units in hospitals.

Previously, the head of the country's emergency organization had said that from the beginning of February to March 14 of this year, 1,100 people were injured and 17 people were killed in the Chaharshanbe Suri incidents.

Jafar Meadfar told Tasnim News Agency on Tuesday, March 14: "92 of the injured have had limbs amputated, 470 have had eye injuries, and 540 have suffered burns."

During last year's Chaharshanbe Suri ceremony, 1,894 people were injured, 131 had limbs amputated, and 9 people died.

Iranian officials say the use of incendiary materials in the Chaharshanbeh Suri fireworks is the main cause of these incidents.

Hossein Rahimi, the capital's police chief, also announced on Tuesday that 52 people, whom he described as "violators," had been arrested.
