Civil registration statistics indicate double the number of coronavirus deaths in Iran

Statistics from the Iranian Civil Registration Organization show that the number of deaths this spring is much higher than the average of the past five years. Statistics that can shed light on the number of coronavirus deaths. In the last two days, coronavirus deaths in Iran have hit a "record."
On Wednesday, July 8, the Iranian Civil Registration Organization published the death toll for the first quarter of this year on its website after a long wait. According to the statistics, the number of deaths in the spring of 2020 was at least 20,000 more than the average death toll in the past five years.
A comparison that shows that the significant increase in deaths can only be due to Covid-19, because in the past three months, there was no specific incident or factor such as an earthquake or flood that could increase the death toll in Iran.
An important and effective factor in Iranian deaths is road accidents, which have decreased sharply this year due to the quarantine, especially during the Nowruz holiday. This is despite the fact that an average of about 2,000 people die in urban and intercity accidents in Iran every month.
Given Iran's two-month quarantine and the reduction in accidents, resulting in a reduction of about three to four thousand deaths due to accidents, the actual number of deaths in the first quarter of this year should be assumed to be between 23 and 24 thousand.
Thus, the actual number of coronavirus deaths in Iran is at least double the number announced by the Ministry of Health. In its latest report (Wednesday, July 8), the Ministry of Health announced the total number of deaths from coronavirus at 12,084.
According to the Civil Registration Organization website, the provinces with the highest number of deaths in Iran were Tehran with about 3,700 deaths, Isfahan with about 1,800 deaths, Mazandaran with about 1,400 deaths, Khuzestan with about 1,300 deaths, Khorasan Razavi with about 1,200 deaths, Gilan with about 1,200 deaths, and Kurdistan with about 1,100 deaths.
40th minute goal from Corona
“We conceded a goal to Corona in the 40th minute,” Iraj Harirchi, Iran’s deputy health minister, told the Young Journalists’ Club on Tuesday, July 8. Who left the goal empty? The people or the government or both? Harirchi says the reason for the dramatic increase in Corona casualties is “the end of restrictions, economic problems, and the people’s failure to comply with protocols.” He warned that if “all-out measures and necessary cooperation are not taken, the situation will certainly get worse.”
Ali Aata, a spokesman for the Tehran City Council, wrote on his Twitter account that the rapid increase in the number of patients and deaths was “astonishing.” He described the situation in Tehran as “very hypocritical” and called on officials to immediately impose the most serious restrictions. His suggestions included teleworking for employees and imposing restrictions in the capital.
Ali Maher, deputy head of planning and supervision at the coronavirus response headquarters in Tehran, told ISNA that the number of infections is increasing both in Tehran and elsewhere in Iran. He warned, “If this trend continues, in less than 10 days, twice the current number of hospital beds will be occupied and we will face a serious problem.”
According to reports, a quarter of Tehran's beds are occupied by coronavirus patients. Ali Maher announced that more beds will be prepared to respond to patients if the number increases, but stressed that restrictions must be reimposed to reduce the number of infections. In this regard, suggestions have been made to the Coronavirus Response Headquarters, which, if accepted, will be implemented from next Saturday.
10 provinces are in red status 10 provinces are in alert status
Sima Sadat Lari, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, told IRNA that the red status has been declared in 10 provinces of Iran: Khuzestan, Hormozgan, Bushehr, Kermanshah, Kurdistan, Ilam, West and East Azerbaijan, and Khorasan Razavi. According to her, the provinces of Tehran, Isfahan, Mazandaran, Golestan, Alborz, Kerman, Yazd, Sistan and Baluchestan, Hamedan, and Ardabil are on alert.
Farhad Abolnejadian, the head of Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences, told "Sima Khuzestan" about the spread of the coronavirus in Khuzestan Province, "There is no shortage of ICU beds in Khuzestan, but we also do not have empty capacity." He criticized the lack of infrastructure in the field of treatment as "one of the problems and backwardnesses of Khuzestan Province from the past."
According to the statistics of the Iranian Ministry of Health, 248,379 people have been infected with the coronavirus in Iran so far. With the death of 153 people in the past 24 hours, the number of deaths from the coronavirus in Iran has reached 12,084. Of course, according to the statistics of the Ministry of Health, it is likely that the registration statistics in the coming months will show a much higher figure.
