America: Iran and the United States' decision-making options have been outlined in Vienna

The US representative to the organization says that the latest round of talks in Vienna have identified options for Iran and the United States to make decisions. However, the Iranian representative says that the US must ensure that future governments of the country do not withdraw from the agreement.
Following the semi-annual report by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the implementation of the 2015 resolution on the JCPOA agreement between Iran and six world powers, the Security Council met to discuss the issue on Wednesday, June 30.
Jeffrey DeLaurentis, the US deputy ambassador to the UN, said in this regard: "The last round of talks in Vienna made it clear what decisions Iran and the United States need to make in order to jointly return to the agreement."
In his speech, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on the United States to lift sanctions against Iran and urged Iran to fully return to the provisions of the JCPOA.
Majid Takht-Ravanchi, the Islamic Republic's ambassador to the United Nations, said in his remarks at the Security Council meeting: "Those who have violated their commitments must make tough decisions." He demanded that the United States guarantee that future governments do not overturn the decisions of the current government and do not withdraw from the nuclear agreement.
The Chinese ambassador also asked the United States to guarantee that it would not withdraw from the JCPOA in the future.
According to experts, US President Joe Biden lacks legal authority in this area and cannot make decisions for future US presidents. On the other hand, the process of macro-decision-making in the United States is different from countries like Iran and China.
The Islamic Republic is currently enriching uranium to a concentration of 60 percent, while under the JCPOA it is only allowed to enrich uranium to 3.67 percent. To make a nuclear bomb, 90 percent enriched uranium is needed.
The Islamic Republic says it is not seeking to build nuclear weapons and will quickly return to the 2015 agreement if US sanctions are lifted.
The UN Secretary-General has said: "I continue to believe that a full restoration of the JCPOA is the best way to ensure that the Islamic Republic of Iran's nuclear program remains peaceful."
