Representative's insulting language to acid attack victim: You're too bad that only one side of your face was damaged

After a group of acid attack victims were present in the parliament during the consideration of the bill to increase punishment for acid attack, the type of language used by one of the parliamentarians once again caused controversy, this time towards one of the acid attack victims.
ISNA News Agency, in a report on the sidelines of the presence of acid attack victims in the parliament on Sunday, May 19, wrote that "Zahra Saeedi", a representative of the people of Mobarakeh in the parliament, addressed "Marzieh Ebrahimi", who suffered severe injuries to half of her face during the acid attacks in Isfahan, and said (jokingly): "You have escaped the hands of the criminal Qeser and only one side of your face is damaged! What happened to the person who threw the acid?"
Marzieh Ebrahimi, who is from Isfahan herself, also said to the representative, "I am truly sorry that you are a representative of Isfahan and do not know that the perpetrators of the Isfahan acid attack have not yet been identified, and you are telling me that you are in a state of shock!"
The representative of the people of Mobarakeh also informed Ebrahimi and other victims present in the parliament of the proposal of "execution" in the bill to increase the punishment for acid attacks by the representatives and told the victims that we think you want the same thing.
But Marzieh Ebrahimi, one of the victims of the acid attack in Isfahan, responded to the representative by saying that they were not calling for the execution of the criminals, but rather for "stopping the cycle of violence."
According to Iranian domestic news agencies, in a bill they reviewed on Sunday, May 10, representatives are seeking restrictions on the purchase of acid and increasing the punishment for acid throwing to the death penalty.
In the fall of 2015, acid attacks on young women in Isfahan shocked the city's residents. The continued acid attacks and the failure to identify the perpetrators, along with reports that the perpetrators were choosing victims from women who were not wearing the full hijab, led to protest rallies in Isfahan and Tehran.
A number of civil activists and protesters were arrested and tried during these rallies.
