Erica Kirk, wife of Charlie Kirk, tearfully forgave her husband's killer

Erica Kirk tearfully announced at Charlie Kirk's lavish memorial service that she forgave her husband's killer.
A memorial service for Charlie Kirk, the American conservative political activist and founder of Turning Point USA, who was assassinated at a university in Utah last week, was held at Arizona's State Farm Stadium with an estimated 100,000 people in attendance. The event, which was attended by Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, cabinet members and even Elon Musk, was touched by an emotional speech by Charlie's wife, Erica Kirk.
Erika, in tears, surprised everyone by saying, "That young man, that young man who was crucified, our Savior said, 'Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.'"
He added, "Charlie always believed that forgiveness could stop the cycle of hatred and open a new path for life." These words caused many in the audience to cry.
Erica Kirk, referring to her Christian faith and her husband's teachings, said: "I forgive this young man because it's what Christ did and it's what Charlie was doing. The answer to hate is not hate. The answer we know from the Bible is love, and always love. Love for our enemies and love for all those who have hurt us."
She also emphasized in an interview with the New York Times that the decision on the punishment of Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old suspect in the murder of Charlie Kirk, is up to the judiciary, not her. Erica added: "I don't want this man's blood to be shed on my account."
This issue came up even though Donald Trump had previously called for the death penalty for Robinson, and Utah prosecutors also requested the death penalty during the first hearing of the trial.
Erica Kirk, who has a degree in theology and hosts a religious podcast, concluded her speech by saying, "My husband wanted to save young men, just like the one who took his life. I forgive him, because that's what Christ did and that's what Charlie would have done."
After Erica finished speaking, Donald Trump called her up on stage and hugged her. "Charlie would definitely be very proud to hear people glorifying God today," he told the crowd.
Charlie Kirk's memorial service ended with this powerful message of "forgiveness and Christian love," a message his wife saw as the key to confronting hate.
