US Congressional Elections: Democrats Win House of Representatives

In the US congressional elections, which are taking place simultaneously with the presidential election, Democrats managed to retain their majority in the House of Representatives. A tight battle is underway for 35 seats in the Senate.

In the election on Tuesday, November 3, 35 of the 100 Senate seats were up for grabs, as were all of the House of Representatives seats. Of the 35 Senate seats, 23 belonged to Republicans and 12 belonged to Democrats.

According to Fox News, Democrats in the House of Representatives managed to retain their majority, as expected. They have so far managed to win 232 of the 435 seats in the House of Representatives. 218 votes are needed to win a majority in the House of Representatives.

In the race for Senate seats, the Democratic candidate in Colorado was able to win one seat by defeating his Republican opponent.

In the state of Alabama, this victory went to the Republicans.

According to the latest reports, Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, a staunch supporter of Donald Trump, managed to retain his Senate seat. He was able to win 56.8% of the vote.

In Texas, Senator John Cornyn was able to retain his Senate seat by defeating his Democratic opponent.

Influential Republican Senator Mitch McConnell was also re-elected.

Republicans currently hold 53 of the 100 Senate seats. The battle in the Senate is over 14 seats that Democratic candidates have a better chance of winning. However, the final results of the Senate elections may not be announced until several days after the election, or perhaps longer, in some of these states.

If Biden does not win, Democrats need four seats to take control of the Senate. If Biden wins, they only need three seats because, by law, one of the seats goes to the first vice president, who also presides over the Senate.

If Democratic candidates win a majority of Senate seats, and if Joe Biden wins, given that Democrats hold a majority of seats in the House of Representatives, a new chapter in American politics will open.

If control of Congress falls into the hands of Democrats, even if Trump wins re-election, Democrats can stop many Republican policies from being implemented.

The Senate is considered one of the most powerful and influential institutions in America, and gaining a majority in it is of vital importance to Biden and Trump.
