Ansiya Khazali, Vice President for Women and Family Affairs, becomes President

President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, issued a decree appointing Ansiyeh Khazali as Vice President for Women and Family Affairs.
Ansiya Khazali is the daughter of Ayatollah Khazali, a fundamentalist cleric who died in 2015. Her sister, Kubra Khazali, is also the head of the Cultural and Social Council for Women and the Family in the Supreme Council for the Cultural Revolution.
According to ISNA, Ansiya Khazali was born in Qom in 1963 and holds a PhD in Arabic language and literature. She completed her seminary education up to level 3 at the Qom Sisters Seminary.
Ms. Khazali's background includes being the president of Al-Zahra University, the president of Razavi University campus, and a member of the university's faculty.
In Hassan Rouhani's government, Shahindokht Molaverdi and Masoumeh Ebtekar served as Deputy Ministers for Women and Family Affairs, and their performance was always heavily criticized by conservatives.
